About DEET
What is DEET?

DEET is the common name for N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide.  DEET is the active ingredient in many insect repellents. Different repellents have different amounts of DEET.

How does DEET work?

Research suggests DEET works by interfering with odour receptors of insects confusing them and making it hard for the bugs to bite us.

Most Muskol products deliver up to eight hours of protection against mosquitoes.

Is DEET safe?

DEET has been researched for over 50 years. Major toxicology studies have established that DEET can be used without posing serious risks to humans or the environment. DEET can be used safetly when used according to the label directions. DEET has been widely used, with nearly 8 billion human applications.

Prevention/General bug protection

Protect yourself and your family from both the annoyance and the health risks associated with mosquitoes. Here are a few things you can do to reduce the risk of getting bitten.

Stay indoors at dusk, dawn and early evening.

Wear light-coloured clothing.

Don't wear scented deodorant, soaps or perfumes if you are in an area with a high bug population.

Wear long-sleeved shirts and pants when outdoors.

Spray clothing with Muskol® Insect Repellent for protection against mosquitoes for up to 8 hours. Avoid contact with synthetic fabrics. May damage furniture finishes, plastics and painted surfaces.

Apply Muskol® Insect Repellent (Pump Spray, Lotion or Aerosol) to exposed skin such as the back of the neck, ankles, etc., but be careful to avoid the eyes and mouth.
